Quick tutorial how to install popular minecraft mod for the old versions of minecraft beta 1.8.1 and 1.8. Too Many Items: Winrar: Troubleshooting: I don't have the minecraft launcher: I don't have Winrar or 7zip: Download Winrar, link is higher in description I don't use Mozilla Firefox I use chrome or Internet Explorer: It's still the same method just use common sense and if you can't find the downloaded file just open up your file explorer should be in the bottom bar on windows 8, if not search for it like we did for run program then click on downloads on the left under desktop. The new folder I created doesn't show up in the use version drop down box in the minecraft launcher: Go back into your versions folder and make sure you changed all folder/file names to EXACTLY WORD FOR WORD the same and make sure you're using the correct profile. I've installed but I still can't see/use the mod: Make sure you push the letter 'o' in game that's not the number 0 that's the letter o on your keyboard to show the too many items overlay. I got a black screen after installing: DELETE META-INF, Make sure no other mods are conflicting, make sure you have the right version of the mod and make sure you installed it correctly. Everything has failed: Reinstall slowly and carefully make sure to follow all tutorial DON'T RUSH THE INSTALL. Everything still fails: Save your saves folder in.minecraft and move it somewhere safe also save any texture packs or anything else you want from that folder then delete.minecraft and open minecraft launcher then when you run game it will re-download your.minecraft folder proceed to reinstall from there.
I have windows 7/vista not windows 8: instead of searching for the app 'RUN' instead open start in the bottom left of your screen and in the search bar just above the bottom left corner type '%appdata%' without quotes and hit enter it does the same thing as using the run program in any windows. IF YOU'RE WORRIED ABOUT LOSING SAVES PLEASE BACKUP THE 'SAVES' FOLDER IN YOUR.MINECRAFT FOLDER. Sometimes installing mods when you aren't 100% sure what you're doing can result in accidentally messing up your saves.
